Hawaiian Shoyu Chicken

  • Hawaiian shoyu chicken recipe
  • This recipe combines chicken, soy sauce, ginger and garlic.

Aloha Friday! Summer is here and gatherings are in full swing. Anyone else have a BBQ to attend this weekend? This week on TT&IE we are bringing you a savory and classic Hawaiian dish, Hawaiian Shoyu Chicken.

This is simple, full of flavor, and sure to be a hit with your guests!

For the main dish ingredients you'll need:

-3lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs

-1.5 cups soy sauce

-1.5 cups water

-1.5 cup white sugar

-1.5 tablespoons worcestershire sauce

-1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

-2 inch piece fresh ginger chopped

-2 cloves garlic minced

For the sauce:

-1/4 cup soy sauce

-1.4 cup water

-1.4 cup + 2 tablespoons sugar

Here's how to get the Luau started...

1.) Combine all of your ingredients except the chicken together and mix until the sugar dissolves.

2.) Place chicken in a large pot on the stove top

3.) Pour your mixture over the chicken and make sure you completely coat the chicken in the sauce (lather up that SPF babes)

4.) Bring to a low boil, cover and reduce heat to a simmer

5.) Cook for around an hour at low simmer until the chicken is tender (just the right amount of sunshine for that golden glow)

Serve over steamed white rice or heart greens, and taste the islands!
