I’ll forever be living in a vacay-state-of-mind via jet-setting to my next warm-weather destination or dreaming of it. Vacation prep is one of my favorite things: think *resort wear shopping,* making reservations at the best restaurants and putting together that plane-ride playlist of course. But with every trip comes everyone’s least favorite activity…yep, packing. Without a plan, packing can be an anxiety-inducing, stressful must-do, standing in the way of you and those sunny skies.

Though I can’t tell you which new swimsuit to pack (spoiler: you need them all), these four travel hacks will help make packing for your next trip a whole lot easier.

1. Invest in Packing Cubes

Packing cubes have changed my life. As someone who loves an organized suitcase, these cubes have revolutionized the way that I pack. Ranging anywhere from $10-$30 for a 6-pack, these zip-up cubes are ideal for separating all of your vacay essentials. Use one for swimwear, one for dresses, one for activewear, one for toiletries etc. I like to put one aside for dirty laundry at the end of (or during) my trip. Instead of digging for that perfect top, you’ll know exactly where to find it!

2. Don’t forget Dryer Sheets

You’re probably thinking, “Laundry was not on my vacay to-do list.” Nope, me neither! Avoid that stale, suitcase smell by adding some dryer sheets to your packing cubes (see above) and even inside your shoes. No matter how long it takes to get to your destination, your clothes will smell clean and fresh!

3. Hang on to that Hotel Shower Cap 

If you’re planning for sandy beaches and sunny hikes (10/10 recommend), you’ll probably collect a little vacation on the soles of your shoes. If you’re still cleaning sand out of your suitcase from the last trip (guilty), you don’t have to! Grab that hotel shower cap and wrap it around the bottom of those sandals, you’ll be glad you did next time you grab your suitcase!

4. Put your Necklace(s) in a Straw

I cannot believe I went so long without this hack in my life. Everyone knows that accessorizing is key to the perfect vacay outfit, but unboxing a tangled-up-mess of necklaces cuts into that precious R&R! Pick up a pack of straws (paper/plastic/metal) and simply slip one end of your necklace chain through the straw. Pro tip: this works for headphones too. Pack your straws and rest assured you’ll spend no time untangling (thank me later)!
