Fall is one of the most underrated travel times of the year–it falls after Summer vacay and before the holiday rush. But with cooler temperatures and back-to-school comes a peaceful travel period without the crowds, crisp air and hotel-savings. If you’re dreaming of getting outside and embracing an autumn adventure, keep reading for my favorite fall getaways.

Bermuda

A quick 90-minute flight from NYC will land you in this island paradise. Crystal clear water and the national park make this destination an outdoor-lover’s dream. In the Fall, temperatures peak around a perfect 80° with warm water lingering from the August heat. Play along pink sand beaches, vibrant houses and did I mention pink beaches? Beyond your cabana, you’ll find endless adventure from cliff-jumping to coral reefs.

Don’t forget: Reef friendly sunscreen and a rash guard for the dive of your dreams!

Kaua'i

I do not have the words to do this Hawaiian island justice. After the summer rush is the perfect time to visit the “garden isle.” The island weather is always a 10/10, so just be sure to book your trip before the rainy season in November. Kaua’i is home to some of the most stunning wonders like Waimea Canyon (coined the grand canyon of the pacific) or Tunnels beach, a snorkeling and scuba diving haven. Known for its lush and natural beauty, you won’t need much for this dreamy destination.

Don’t forget: An underwater phone case and a hooded cover-up for those midday sun showers.

Crete, Greece

Skip the tourist hubs in Santorini and head over to Greece’s largest island, Crete. In the south of mainland Greece, Crete is buzzing with phenomenal food, beautiful beaches and idyllic fall weather. Being in the southernmost part of the island, fall temperatures in Crete sit around a sunny 75° with sea temperatures around 73° for a refreshing dip. If crystal-clear water isn’t selling you, head to the forests, sandhills or the White Mountains (among the ten highest in Greece)! For you history buffs, Crete is rich in Minoan history and loads of archaeological museums.

Don’t forget: Comfortable walking shoes and stretchy leggings (for climbing and eating).
